Job Description
The Department of Environmental Health Sciences, School of Public Health at The University of Alabama at Birmingham invites applications for a twelve-month teaching position at the Assistant Professor/ Associate Professor level, non-tenure earning. Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. The position requires a highly motivated applicant with a passion for teaching at both the undergraduate and masters levels. The applicant will have demonstrated experience in at least one of the following areas: environmental justice, toxicology, global environmental issues, interventions, or food and water safety. Experience with directing service learning courses a plus. A teaching load of 3 courses per semester is expected, as well as appropriate service to the department and institution. Minimum qualifications are a Ph.D. or equivalent, in environmental health sciences or other scientifically appropriate discipline. MPH also preferred. Birmingham, AL is a vibrant city that offers extensive cultural, dining, entertainment and athletic options for people at all stages of life. The home of the Civil Rights movement, Birmingham and Alabama in general continue to have extensive opportunities for public health practice related to environmental justice and community-based research, which comes at a time of global attention due to the upcoming World Games.
