Highlights:

Summary The RN – Diabetes Educator shall be responsible for the continuing development and implementation of outpatient education in the area of diabetes management. This individual will assess, establish, implement, and evaluate a patient’s education plan according to ADA standards and age-appropriate guidelines. The Educator will also assess the need, plan, implement, and evaluate any continuing education for professional programs. The Educator will also serve as a resource for Physicians, nurses, and other allied health professionals. Additionally, the Educator will assist in marketing the Diabetes Education program and other activities for patients and health care professionals. This position may have additional duties assigned that are within scope of the role.

Education Degree in Nursing required, Bachelor’s degree preferred. Minimum 3 years’ medical nursing experience required. Experience in patient or staff education preferred.

License/ Certifications Active RN licensure required, BLS required, CDE certification required

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities  Excellent knowledge of MS Office and familiarity with relevant computer software. Strong team leadership skills, strong organization, interpersonal, and customer relations skills. Must be able to meet strict deadlines. Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, and excellent organizational skills. Must be able to complete multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to remain calm in difficult situations. Strong written and oral communication skills, proficient computer skills, proven track record of successful performance. Ability to understand complex multifactor situations and bring appropriate solutions. Ability to work both independently and in a team environment. Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments. Ability to observe, assesses, and record work, safety and infection control standards.
