The Hamilton County Health & Social Services Division has a responsibility to respond quickly and efficiently when public health emergencies occur. All Hamilton County Health & Social Services Division employees are responsible for ensuring their contact information is current and they are accessible should a public health emergency arise. The Hamilton County Health & Social Services Division maintains a call down system to store contact information and mobilize staff in the event of an emergency. During a public health emergency, all staff are required to respond should a call to mobilize be made. During a public health emergency, work hours for any and all Hamilton County Health & Social Services Division employees are subject to modification to meet the needs of the community.
Under general supervision, plans, develops, implements, and evaluates public health initiatives to children, adults, and educators.

Leads and implements evidence-based public health initiatives to improve the overall health of the community. Develops and delivers high-impact, community-driven health education programs and presentations that enhance public health prevention initiatives and improves the health outcomes of populations in need (e.g., chronic disease prevention, healthy eating, active living, tobacco prevention and cessation, substance abuse prevention, adolescent pregnancy prevention, violence prevention, personal safety education, emergency preparedness, reproductive health, HIV/AIDS prevention, etc.). Facilitates community coalitions as well as committees related to the Hamilton County Regional Health Council. Partners with and serves as a liaison with local schools, healthcare facilities, municipalities, coalitions, and community organizations to promote health equity and community well-being.
Designs and executes comprehensive outreach campaigns, including educational materials, reports, and dynamic social media messaging, to elevate awareness of key public health priorities. Strategically plans and coordinates community engagement efforts, public events, and informational sessions to foster partnerships and expand program reach.
Develops and maintains detailed tracking of expenditures, inventories, and other required program metrics. Reports health promotion/education activities and outcomes to all key stakeholders as defined. Uses data and statistics to analyze public health issues and solutions. Assists with evaluation and continuous quality program improvements as assigned. Performs additional responsibilities as assigned.
Knowledge of federal, state and county laws, regulations, systems, policies, practices, and procedures related to health promotion programs and services.
Knowledge of community resources, needs and demographics related to health education programs in area of assignment.

A Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Health Education, Fitness, Nutrition, Behavioral Health, Nursing, Social Work, or a related field specific to area of assignment and one (1) year of direct work experience in a related field specific to the area of assignment. Must possess a valid driver’s license.
OR
An Associate's Degree in Public Health, Health Education, Fitness, Nutrition, Behavioral Health, Nursing, Social Work, or a closely related field specific to the area of assignment, with three (3) years of direct work experience in a related field specific to the area of assignment. Must possess a valid driver’s license.
OR
A high school diploma or the equivalent and five (5) years of public health education or direct work experience in a related field specific to the area of assignment. Must possess a valid driver’s license.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Some positions require additional training or certifications depending on assignment.
Prior to operating a County-owned vehicle, all employees are required to complete the HC Defensive Driving course and/or an Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) provided at the department level.
This position is deemed essential/situational during inclement weather situations and must report to or remain at work, even when administrative closings are announced, as determined by the Department Head.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work requires extended periods of concentration on detail. May work outside normal business hours when conducting presentations, outreach events, site, or home visits. May work outdoors for events and
other assignments. May work in high-risk environments. Requires extensive computer usage in a fast-paced environment. May require some out of town travel. Possible exposure to infectious diseases, blood, air, and water borne pathogens when performing site or home visits. Work requires transporting and setting up presentation and display exhibits with materials and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds depending on the activity.
