Quality Staffing, Inc., also doing business as Goddard Mason Executive Search, a leading full-service employment agency matching qualified talent with some of the area's top companies, is looking for an experienced Public Health Educator to work through our agency as a contract employee with the Tennessee Department of Health (TN DOH) located in Nashville, TN. This is a hybrid position working from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday and the pay rate for this position is $31.00 per hour.

Public Health Educator Job Overview:
The Tennessee Department of Health's Division of Family Health and Wellness (FHW) is seeking a highly motivated, qualified individual to fill a Public Health Educator position. This position is housed within the Tobacco Use Prevention and Control Program and will work closely with program and evaluation staff to implement evidence-based strategies designed to address the tobacco use and prevention among youth and young adults.

Key Job Responsibilities for Public Health Educator position:
  • Plan and implement evidence-based programs/initiatives to address tobacco prevention among youth and young adults.
  • Assist and support the expansion of TNSTRONG youth programs and provide technical assistance to those which promote the TNSTRONG initiatives.
  • Work directly with the public to facilitate programs, provide community education, and disseminate health-related materials.
  • Prepare and distribute program materials to internal and external stakeholders which conduct tobacco prevention programs.
  • Work with tobacco team to plan and implement youth engagement trainings for tobacco prevention.
  • Participate in regular trainings, workshops, conferences, and meetings related to tobacco prevention and control and the FHW division.
  • Develop and maintain cooperative, collaborative, working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve program goals and objectives.
  • Update and use relevant knowledge to support the implementation of health education interventions and programs for the community.
  • Identify the educational needs of others, support program staff in the development of educational training programs or classes and teach and instruct others.
  • Assist with the design and delivery of relevant training programs for health department employees, teachers, and other professionals.

Education and Experience Requirements for Public Health Educator position:
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in health education, biology, or related field.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in public health, education or related field.
  • Able to complete and prioritize tasks while working remotely.


Additional Information for Public Health Educator position:
  • This hybrid position has in-person attendance expected for the first day of employment for laptop deployment and onboarding in Nashville, TN.
  • Contract for this position is expected to be renewed annually pending program funding; funding is anticipated to continue at least through June 2029.
  • Candidates MUST be a resident of TN.
  • In-person attendance required for quarterly meetings and professional development opportunities.
  • Travel to Nashville office will not be reimbursed, however travel for site visits will be reimbursed.
  • One evening meeting (1 hour per month) with Youth Ambassador and three (3) youth events each year which will require some weekend work.
