The Process Improvement Technician is responsible for determining and implementing the best processes for continuous improvement with the equipment, as well as the plant. The Process Improvement Technician will prioritize activities, allocate resources, maintain an adequate supply of materials, while utilizing sound decision making in an effective and timely manner.
Third shift hours are typically Mon-Fri from 10p.m. to 8a.m. Training will take place on day shift with typical hours of Mon-Thur 8a.m. to 6 p.m.
Essential Duties:
- Continually strive to achieve continuous improvement in all activities, processes, and with all projects at Dekoron Wire & Cable, Inc.
- Plan and provide preventive and predictive maintenance for existing machinery and equipment
- Work with vendors and suppliers to forecast and plan
- Repair and maintain all machinery and building
- Fabricate and/or design new concepts for machinery and equipment.
- Maintain history of machinery operations and forecast problems.
- Participates in proper maintenance inventory.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical problems with plant equipment and building.
- Recommend process improvements
- Work as a team with other PITT Crew members, as well as other Dekoron employees
- Design and promote safety in all processes.
- Practice lock out/tag out.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Preferred:
- High School diploma or equivalent, required
- Certification from a trade or technical school is preferred
- Licenses or certifications are not required for this position
- Minimum of two years of related industrial experience
Knowledge and Skills Preferred:
- Basic machining skills
- Basic knowledge of plant and machine safety
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specs, and sketches
- Knowledge of electrical wiring and control circuits
- Knowledge of PLC or relay control logic
- Ability to install conduit or cable trays for electrical needs
- Ability to welding with Electrical or Gas welder
- Knowledge of working with high voltage; low voltage
- Knowledge of single phase motors; three phase motors
- Knowledge of working with gearboxes
- Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics
- Monitoring – watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly
- Equipment selection – determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job
- Control Precision – adjust controls of the machine to exact positions
- Communication – understand and follow written and oral instructions
- Getting information – observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources
- Cognitive thinking – problem solving, prioritizing activities, allocate resources, maintain an adequate supply of materials, make sound decisions, and recommend solutions in troubleshooting and repairing in a timely and effective manner.
- Ability to make quick decisive decisions concerning product and machine adjustments needed to ensure product quality
- Understands the importance of being exact and accurate
- Evaluating Information to determine compliance with standards - using relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.
- Identifying Objects, Actions, and Events - identifying information by categorizing, estimating, recognizing differences or similarities, and detecting changes in circumstances or events.
- Ability to communicate with supervisors, peers or subordinates by telephone, radio, in written form, email, or in person.
Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements:
- Ability to process information to compile, code, categorize, calculate, tabulate, audit, verify information or data.
- Ability to monitor and review information to detect and assess problems.
- Near Vision - ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of observer)
- Far Vision – ability to see details at a distance
- Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms, legs, and moving of the whole body, such as climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, pushing, pulling, stooping, and handling of material. Spend time using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls
- Spend time standing, as well as sitting, bending, squatting, and reaching
- Use hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things
- Wear common protective and safety equipment
- Spend time making repetitive motions
- Lifting of at least 50 pounds
- Indoors, environmentally controlled
