The Department of Community Health Sciences (CHS) is the leading unit of its type in Pakistan, recognized regionally and internationally for the relevance, quality, and extent of its work in support of public health and the development of primary health care systems. It comprises of five major operational sections\: Epidemiology & biostatistics, Health policy & management, Population & reproductive health, Environmental health & climate change, and Non-communicable diseases & mental health.


This is a grant-funded contractual position.

Responsibilities:

You will be responsible to:

  • collect biological specimens (e.g., blood) from study participants in both field and hospital settings
  • ensure proper labelling, packaging, and storage of collected specimens
  • transport and submit specimens to designated laboratories as per protocol
  • maintain accurate logs of specimen collection and submission
  • complete data forms accurately using the RedCap application on Android devices
  • monitor cold chain and biosafety standards during sample handling
  • coordinate with field teams and laboratory personnel for an efficient workflow
  • report any issues related to specimen collection or data entry to supervisors promptly
  • contribute to compliance with trial protocol and regulatory standards, including participation in audits
  • support general laboratory and field logistics as assigned.

Requirements:

You should have:

  • a bachelor’s degree in science or a diploma in laboratory technology, or a related field (UTC)
  • at least one year of experience in specimen collection and laboratory support
  • good communication and interpersonal skills, especially with the research team
  • familiarity with blood and specimen collection SOPs

  • familiarity with field and hospital settings
  • experience working in clinical or research-based environments (preferred)
  • knowledge of safe and hygienic specimen collection techniques
  • good organisational and record-keeping skills
  • a strong understanding of research protocols and laboratory SOPs
  • the ability to communicate effectively with participants, field staff, and hospital personnel
  • fluency in local languages and basic proficiency in English and Urdu.
