Responsible for, and dedicated to providing recognition, satisfaction and value to its members, while facilitating the Club’s objectives and satisfying the financial covenants of the Club.  Ability to instruct aerobic and fitness classes a is plus.  Certification by a nationally recognized personal training body required or 4-year degree in fitness or physiology.  Assist in all areas of the spa and gym as required.  While the following information should be considered a comprehensive description of this position, it should also be noted that some responsibilities and duties may not be specifically addressed.  The Porto Vita Property Owners Association emphasizes a team approach and fully expects every person to perform any reasonable task or request that is consistent with fulfilling company objectives.  On the whole, the Personal Trainer is responsible for, and dedicated to providing recognition, satisfaction and value to its residents while striving to continuously improve efficiency, accuracy, maintain high productivity, employee morale and positive resident and guest relations to ensure eminent standards of service and maximize revenues. The ideal candidate would be highly skilled in creating a variety of exercise programs based on each individual’s preferences and needs.  A profound knowledge of multi-level functional training, as well as pre and post rehab programming is ideal.  This position is a PART-TIME position compensated by an hourly wage and a commission base as well. 
 
ESSENTIAL TASKS:
  • Conduct and instruct training sessions or aerobic classes as specified by Spa Director.
  • Responsible for the development of various fitness programs.
  • Perform fitness evaluations for members and guests.
  • Assist students with medical conditions with special exercises and programs.
  • Provide one-on-one fitness training services as requested.
  • Maintain adequate supply of towels for members and guests.  Replace dirty linen with clean linen.
  • Assist with spa tours.
  • Assist in other areas of the spa as needed, including but not limited to, scheduling appointments, checking in members and guests, stocking laundry and supplies.
  • Submit monthly report on fitness programs to Spa Director.
  • Promote all other spa services.
  • Adhere to all fire, safety and security procedures according to Club policies.
  • Comply with all policies and standard operating procedures of the Club.
  • Demonstrates respect, sensitivity and concern for members’ and guests’ needs in a professional manner and recognition of each member and guest in any contacts with the Club.
  • Regular attendance is essential to the successful performance of this position.
  • Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, team members may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the Club.  In addition, attendance at all scheduled skill development sessions and Club departmental meetings are required.
  • Perform tasks in a team-based environment.
  • Professionally represent the Club at all times during shifts and/or when on property grounds for job related issues.
  • Maintain Club appearance criteria at all times.
  • Adhere to all various written mandatory standards of operations, policies and procedures, manuals, memos, oral instructions, all of which make up the functions of the job.
 
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Must be able to create and write reports.
  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide accurately.
  • Must be able to enter data into spa computer system.
  • Must be able to conduct several aerobic classes throughout an 8-hour work shift.
  • Because of the fluctuating demands of the Club’s operation, it may be necessary that each team member perform a multitude of different functions; therefore, as an essential part of your position, you will be expected to assist others when the occasion arises.  Accordingly, this individual may be expected to perform other tasks as needed or as directed.
  • Must fluently speak, read, write and understand the primary language used in the workplace.
  • Knowledge of Club’s amenities and services offered.
  • Ability to multi-task between member requests, operational issues and team member needs.
  • Effective, pleasant speaking and listening abilities when communicating with members and team members.
  • Cooperative and positive attitude, exercising reason.
  • Must be able to stand up to 7 hours per day.  Length of time of these tasks may vary.
  • Must be able to work at a rapid pace, while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Must have the ability to work on more than one task at a time.
  • Must have a friendly and outgoing personality.
  • Must exhibit a STAR Service attitude, willing to go out of the way to accommodate and exceed the needs of Club members and guest.
  • Must exhibit enthusiasm for the job and for the Club.
  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
  • Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
  • Responsible for general safety on Club grounds.
  • Must have finger dexterity to be able operate equipment such as multi-line tone phones and other general operating and/or office equipment.
 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Vision Requirements:  Use of full range peripheral vision.  Constant need (66% to 100% of time) to complete forms, read and review reports, wide variety of correspondence, view computer screen. Frequent need to see small detail.   Frequent need (33% to 66% of time) to see things clearly beyond arm’s reach (inspecting property, neighborhood survey).
  • Hearing Requirements: Constant need (66% to 100% of time) to communicate over telephone and in person with vendors, staff, residents and prospects.
  • Driving Requirements: Infrequent need (0% to 10% of time).  
  • Working Environment:  Usually indoors.  (66% to 100% of time).  
  • Reasoning Development:  High.  Must be able to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect pertinent data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions and initiate appropriate course of action.  Must effectively convey ideas, images and goals to a diverse group of individuals. Must be able to work at a fast pace, perform duties while under pressure and meet deadlines in a timely manner, to interact/communicate with other site employees, residents, visitors and the public in a professional and pleasant manner.
 
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
 
EDUCATION:  High School diploma or equivalent required.  Additional education in health science or related field required.
 
EXPERIENCE:  Minimum of 10-years experience as a fitness trainer.
 
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES:  Must be a certified personal trainer from an accredited school.  Must be first aid and CPR certified (or we will provide).

Fluent in English and knowledge of Spanish is preferred. 
 
Must pass a background security check and meet the pre-employment drug-free workplace conditions of the Club.
