The role you’ll contribute:

Under the supervision of the Director of Clinical Documentation Integrity and in collaboration with pediatricians, pediatric specialists, nursing, and HIM coders, you will facilitate appropriate documentation of clinical conditions and procedures to reflect the severity of illness (SOI), risk of mortality (ROM), and complexity of care in children.

The CDS educates members of the pediatric care team—including physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing, and care management—on documentation guidelines. You will play a key role in ensuring regulatory compliance, quality outcomes, and clear communication in pediatric medical records.

The value you’ll bring to the team:

  • Demonstrates extending the healing ministry of Christ through behavioral whole care standards—love me, make it easy, own it, and keep me safe—to every child and family served.

  • Reviews concurrent pediatric medical records for accuracy, completeness, and compliance for SOI, ROM, and quality.

  • Ensures timely review and reconciliation of pediatric patient records, with accurate data input into CDI software.

  • Identifies pediatric-specific documentation opportunities using strong critical-thinking skills, initiating clinically credible clarifications when needed.

  • Collaborates with pediatric providers to improve documentation compliance and quality, positively impacting outcomes and metrics in this population.

  • Participates in ongoing CDI education and training with an emphasis on pediatric best practices.
