Position: Patient Navigator – Hereditary Cancer Testing
📍 Location: Tarzana, CA
🕗 Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8am to 4:30pm

About the Role
As a Patient Navigator specializing in Hereditary Cancer Testing, you will support patients through critical stages of their diagnostic journey. You will be based at our partner location in Tarzana, CA, providing education, coordinating care, and assisting with phlebotomy. You'll work closely with a multidisciplinary clinical team to ensure a seamless, supportive, and professional patient experience.

Key Responsibilities

Provide education and support for high-risk patients undergoing genetic testing.

Register patients and schedule follow-up appointments.

Build trust and confidence with patients by explaining procedures clearly and compassionately.
- Accurately verify and label patient specimens at the time of collection.

Maintain documentation, patient records, and uphold HIPAA compliance.

Ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming clinical environment.

Collaborate with the clinical team and area supervisor to complete daily tasks efficiently.

Serve as a key patient contact, embodying HALO’s commitment to precision care and early detection.
Qualifications
Required:
-
2+ years of recent experience as a Medical Assistant working with a clinical team, OR a bachelor’s degree (or senior soon to graduate) with strong communication skills, empathy, and an interest in medicine, genetics, or patient-facing healthcare roles. Ideal candidates may be pre-med or planning to pursue medical or graduate school.

Experience with insurance verifications and authorizations (minimum 2 years).

National Certified Phlebotomist, with proven experience in blood draws preferred but not required.

Current BLS certification.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively

Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record (if applicable)
Preferred:

2+ years of experience in a Patient Service Center or similar outpatient environment.

Experience with genetic testing (training provided in patient navigation and genetics for the right candidate).

Prior experience in a customer-facing role within a healthcare setting.

Proficiency with data entry and patient systems (EMR/EHR).
