Provide oversight to a regional area for infection control and prevention. Perform full and modified (targeted) infection prevention and control assessments (ICAR) both onsite and remote; identify barriers for implementation of infection prevention and control best practices and develop strategies to mitigate barriers. Write summary reports detailing specific findings from infection prevention and control assessments for each facility. Summarize important findings and make recommendations to facilities to improve infection prevention and control practices, participate in healthcare associated suspected and confirmed outbreak response activities. Test and refine infection control and prevention assessment documents. Test and refine audit tools for hand hygiene, contact precautions, environmental cleaning, and other common infection control activities. Develop, review/revise, and distribute educational resources to local health departments, healthcare and high-risk facilities address common infection control problems identified by ongoing infection control assessments. Collaborate with HAI AR staff and facility staff to develop plans for addressing gaps identified during assessments. Assist with the development of resource materials, documents, and educate facilities about infection control best practices. Teach infection prevention and control assessment to local health staff; regional epidemiologists; state epidemiology staff; health facility staff, and others. Implement Project Frontline educational initiatives in healthcare facilities, share information, and raise awareness of education and training opportunities. Conduct training and education using Project Frontline curriculums, as well as other training materials. Produce summary reports of education, attendance, feedback, etc. of educational activities. This position will also serve as a linkage to care specialist/case manager coordinating care for HIV positive individuals in the assigned region further assisting with prevention activities, testing, and serving as a clinical advisor.

Minimum Qualifications

Training: Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and four years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience as a registered professional nurse.  
OR
 Successful completion of an Associate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university or a diploma nursing program and six years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience as a registered professional nurse.  
OR
 Master's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university.  
 
Special Requirement: Current West Virginia license or temporary permit to practice as a registered professional nurse.
