The Opportunity:

As the Manager, Healthcare Quality and Compliance for the College of Medicine, you will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring the quality of healthcare delivery services and operational processes while managing compliance with regulatory standards, mitigating risks and reducing barriers to patient care.

You will report to the Business Director while also working closely with the Chief Medical Officer and WSU’s System Privacy Officer and Associate Director for Health Sciences Compliance in Compliance and Civil Rights, to ensure that the policies and procedures related to the healthcare delivery services comply with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), FERPA, other federal and state regulations, and WSU policies.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quality assurance, compliance, and training with the ability to develop and enforce policies, procedures, and practices that drive excellence and accountability across the organization.

This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.

Monthly Salary: $4,508.70 - $6,763.06 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a field relevant to area of specialization and three (3) years of experience directly related to the specialty area. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, risk management, healthcare administration, public health, social sciences or a related field. Experience may be substituted for degree requirement.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in quality assurance, compliance, risk management, or related setting, preferably in a healthcare or medical school environment.

  • Demonstrated In-depth knowledge of quality control systems, regulatory requirements, and risk management principles.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

  • Strong leadership abilities and experience managing teams.

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while ensuring high-quality standards.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of computers and software applications.

  • Experience related to Medicare and/or Medicaid compliance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in health sciences, business administration, public administration or another related field.

  • Five (5) years of experience in quality assurance, compliance, risk management, or related setting in a healthcare or medical school environment.

  • Ability to drive process improvements using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.

  • Professional certifications such as ISO 9001, Six Sigma, or Certified Risk Manager (CRM).

  • Experience in managing internal and external audits and inspections.

  • Experience managing operations for a higher education compliance program.

  • Knowledge of AAAHC accreditation standards and prior experience guiding an organization through the accreditation cycle.
