Healthcare Support Worker

Job Summary

The Healthcare Support Worker provides basic patient care and support under the supervision of registered nurses and healthcare professionals. The role involves assisting patients with daily living activities, monitoring their wellbeing, maintaining a safe and clean environment, and ensuring comfort and dignity at all times.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist patients with personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding.
• Support patient mobility and help with transfers and positioning.
• Monitor and report changes in patients’ condition to nursing staff.
• Take and record basic vital signs as directed.
• Maintain cleanliness and infection control standards within the care environment.
• Assist with meal distribution and encourage adequate nutrition and hydration.
• Provide emotional support and companionship to patients.
• Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with healthcare policies and procedures.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Healthcare Assistant, Nursing Assistant, or Caregiver certification preferred.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Compassionate, patient-focused, and able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Basic knowledge of health and safety and infection control practices.
