Pay Range: - $ 17-18 Hourly | Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm EST | Location: Fully Remote

Your Role: Essential, Rewarding, Impactful 
 
As a Healthcare Revenue Credit Balance Specialist, you’ll play a key role in supporting the financial accuracy of the organization by identifying and resolving patient and insurance overpayments. Your focus will be on analyzing credit balances, processing timely refunds and adjustments, and ensuring compliance with payer guidelines and internal policies. Your attention to detail and commitment to financial integrity help maintain a clean accounts receivable system—contributing to transparency, efficiency, and trust across the revenue cycle. 
 
What You'll Do: 
  • Review and analyze accounts with credit balances to determine the root cause.
  • Initiate and process refund requests to patients, insurance companies, or other appropriate parties.
  • Coordinate with payers, internal billing teams, and other departments to resolve discrepancies.
  • Ensure all refund and adjustment activities comply with payer guidelines, company policies, and regulatory standards.
  • Accurately document all actions taken on accounts within the system of record.
  • Research and resolve overpayments resulting from duplicate payments, coordination of benefits, or billing errors.
  • Monitor and track refund requests through completion and follow up on any delays or denials
  • Assist in identifying trends and issues related to recurring credit balance problems.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial and patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations. 
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For: 
  •  High school diploma or GED required; associate’s degree preferred
  •  Minimum of 2 year of experience in healthcare billing or payment posting.
  •  Knowledge of remittance processing, including EOBs, ERAs, and payer adjustments.
  •  Familiarity with medical billing systems (Epic, Cerner, or equivalent) preferred.
  •  Basic knowledge of payer types (Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance).
  •  Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  •  Proficient in Microsoft Excel and comfortable working with spreadsheets and reconciliation tools
  •  Experience in both hospital and professional billing environments.
  •  Familiarity with denial management and payer remittance trends.
  •  Strong attention to detail and analytical skills. 
  •  Posting accuracy ≥ 97%.
  •  Daily volume targets met ≥ 95% of the time.
  •  Timely posting of remittances within 48 hours of receipt.
  •  Effective reconciliation with ≤ 2% error rate in batch balancing.

Physical Requirements: 
  • Comfortable working at a computer for extended periods. 
  • Ability to occasionally lift items weighing up to 15 pounds.
