Overview

Healthcare Data Engineer

 

Reporting to EVP of Technology, this role focuses on ETL development and data engineering for healthcare datasets. We need an expert who can own the ingestion process, architect pipelines, and ensure data quality and scalability.

 

In assuming this position, you will be a critical contributor to meeting CoventBridge Group's objective:  To provide services to our clients that exceed their expectations and contribute to improved healthcare delivery by identifying and eliminating fraud, waste and abuse.

Responsibilities/ Requirements

 Responsibilities:

    • Design, build, and maintain data ingestion pipelines in Databricks for healthcare data sources.
    • Process and transform complex healthcare data types, including:
    • 837s, 835s, MMRs, historical membership, pharmacy, provider contractor data (claims and pharmacy data are most critical).
    • Implement ETL workflows to move data from raw sources to curated layers for analytics.
    • Optimize pipeline performance and ensure compliance with healthcare data standards.
    • Collaborate with data analysts and IT DevOpsfor ingestion pipeline development, and with business teams to explain process and cost implications.
    • Make recommendations for improving Databricks utilization, cost management, and organizationfor the analytics team.
    • Document processes and maintain best practices for data governance and security.

 

Requirements:

    • Strong experience in data engineering with a focus on ETL and pipeline development.
    • Expert-level proficiency in Databricks.
    • Hands-on experience with healthcare data formats (837, 835, MMR, membership, pharmacy, provider data).
    • Solid understanding of data modeling, transformations, and performance tuning.
    • Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS preferred).
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience with Python for data manipulation (though scripting is secondary to pipeline engineering).
    • Knowledge of HIPAA compliance and healthcare data security best practices.
    • Background in healthcare analytics or payer/provider data ecosystems.

The salary range for this role is $100,000 to $130,000 annually.  This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future.  An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
