Job Overview:

The Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM) is seeking experienced analytic professionals to be part of our Bureau of Strategic & Performance Analytics. These positions are cross disciplinary and provide the right candidates with the opportunity to meaningfully contribute to the development of new processes that inform the health care of three million Ohioans. We are looking to fill the following positions:

State Directed Payment (SDP) Analytics Specialist –

  • Works on an interdisciplinary team on topics related to SDP and health equity, health outcomes & quality improvement, and performance metric design.
  • Participates in project teams to assist in the development of tools, metrics, dashboards, and models to aid policy decision-making.
  • Responds to requests for data from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conducts literature reviews to identify and implement best practices in program oversight.
  • Prepares reports related to state and federal requirements.
  • Develops best practices that drive improved health outcomes across the state.
  • Attends meetings to assist in the development of tools, metrics, dashboards, and models to aid policy decision-making.
  • Familiarity with healthcare data/policy and experience in quality improvement methods and performance metric design are preferred

Enrollment and Eligibility Analytics Specialist –

  • Collaborates with Fiscal and Policy to design, create, and maintain routine reporting on provider participation, member attribution, and claims/encounter activities related to SDPs.
  • Designs, studies, and conducts research projects regarding eligibility and enrollment related key metrics to best support program and policies including reporting requirements set out by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
  • Supports strategic planning, policy development, reporting, and program evaluation for ODM activities.
  • Works on an interdisciplinary team on topics related to eligibility and enrollment policy.
  • Participates on project teams to assist in the development of tools, metrics, reports, and models to aid policy decision-making.
  • Conducts literature reviews to identify and implement best practices in program oversight.
  • Prepares reports related to state and federal requirements.
     

The ideal candidates will be familiar with relational databases and demonstrate experience with data analysis. They will be self-directed and enthusiastic about conducting research & analysis to enhance program evaluation and oversight.

Completion of undergraduate core coursework & 12 mos. exp. in one of following\: health services administration, mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, public administration, allied health sciences, nursing, economics, public health, or comparable field; 2 yrs. exp. in health services research &/or health policy analysis; 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in research methodology, measurement & testing, analysis of variance & survey sampling; 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in use of computer programs/applications with emphasis on relational data bases, use of computer hardware, software used for spreadsheets, statistical analysis, graphics presentation & word processing; 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in multiple regression or multivariate analysis.
