POSITION TITLE: Health Occupations Teacher
REPORTS TO: Principal and Career-Technical Education (CTE) Director
BEGINNING DATE: August 11, 2025
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 Month
SALARY: NC State Salary Schedule plus applicable local supplement
DEGREE: Degree in education or in a related area that will qualify for licensure as a teacher by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction
EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIRED:
- Must hold or be eligible to hold appropriate NC licensure from the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Health Occupations Teacher should be able to assist students in:
- Selecting health career topics suited to their individual needs, aptitudes, abilities and career development plan.
- Developing sound fundamentals based on National Health Care Skill Standards.
- Pursuing advanced education and/or entry-level employment in a health career cluster.
- Developing basic workplace skills and functions as ethical and moral citizens.
- Becoming knowledgeable consumers of health care in a constantly changing technological environment
- Developing skills in mathematics, science and language arts that are reinforced in the study of nursing and medicine.
- Encouraging opportunities for leadership, management, technical and citizenship development through membership in a co-curricular student organization, Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA).
In addition, the Health Occupations Teacher will be expected to:
- Adhere to ethical standards of the teaching profession, abiding by laws, policies and procedures that govern the schools.
- Prepare lessons and provide learning opportunities in accordance to the academic level needed to reach students in a classroom setting.
- Maintain classroom surroundings in order to enhance the learning environment.
