10-Month Faculty Position

College of The Albemarle (COA) is seeking a dynamic and collaborative Health Sciences Program Coordinator – Pathways and Admissions to provide leadership, instruction, and coordination for Health Sciences programs while guiding student recruitment, engagement, and specialized admissions processes.

This faculty position plays a key role in building clear and accessible educational pathways that guide students from early career awareness through degree completion and into the healthcare workforce. The Coordinator collaborates with Health Sciences faculty, college leadership, K-12 partners, healthcare employers, and regional stakeholders to strengthen student preparation, program alignment, and workforce readiness.

The position also oversees specialized admissions processes for Health Sciences programs, ensuring equitable, transparent, and standards-based selection procedures aligned with institutional policies and regulatory expectations.

This is a 10-month faculty position reporting to the Dean of Health Sciences and Wellness Programs.

Examples of Duties

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Program Coordination and Instruction

  • Provide academic and administrative leadership for the Health Science Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) program, ensuring instructional quality and alignment with current healthcare industry standards.

  • Teach courses within the Health Sciences division as assigned.

  • Lead the development, review, and revision of curriculum and course materials to maintain program relevance and regulatory compliance.

  • Coordinate program scheduling, faculty assignments, and staffing recommendations.

  • Direct continuous program evaluation and quality improvement initiatives, including long-range planning and assessment of program effectiveness.

  • Prepare and submit program reports and documentation required for institutional and external review.

  • Manage program resources including instructional supplies, equipment, and budget allocations.

  • Support faculty recruitment, mentoring, and professional development activities.

  • Maintain strong partnerships with healthcare employers, clinical affiliates, and advisory committees to ensure programs meet regional workforce needs.

Health Sciences Pathways Development
  • Lead the development and coordination of educational pathways that support students from K-12 exposure through entry into Nursing and Allied Health programs.

  • Coordinate the College’s regional health sciences collaborative serving middle and high school students.

  • Develop and implement career exploration experiences such as camps, workshops, simulations, guest speakers, and healthcare site visits.

  • Provide pathway advising to help students and families understand academic preparation, prerequisite coursework, and healthcare career opportunities.

  • Build partnerships with K-12 schools, counselors, and career development staff to strengthen the regional healthcare workforce pipeline.

  • Coordinate bridge programs, dual enrollment opportunities, and early exposure initiatives to prepare students for health sciences education.

  • Track pathway participation and outcomes to support data-informed recruitment and student readiness strategies.

Recruitment and Admissions Coordination
  • Coordinate specialized and competitive admissions processes for Health Sciences programs.

  • Track and rank qualified applicants using established program selection criteria.

  • Provide admissions advising to prospective students regarding prerequisites, eligibility, and competitiveness.

  • Interpret health sciences entrance assessment results to guide student readiness and preparation.

  • Plan and conduct admissions workshops, pre-admission conferences, and information sessions.

  • Serve as a liaison between Health Sciences faculty, Admissions, and Student Services to ensure accurate and consistent communication with students.

  • Maintain and update admissions materials, including program information, website content, and recruitment resources.

  • Evaluate admissions processes and recommend improvements to enhance transparency, equity, and student preparedness.

Typical Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in a health science related program area from an accredited college or university recognized by the US Department of Education.
  • Current, unrestricted licensure or credential in their health discipline area in North Carolina, if applicable.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of previous teaching experience in a health-related program.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of clinical or relevant practice in their health care degree area.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with faculty, staff, and students, and the community across multiple disciplines.
Preferred:
  • Master's degree or higher in a health science related program area from an accredited college or university recognized by the US Department of Education.
  • Two (2) years of previous teaching experience in a health-related program.
  • Five (5) years of clinical or relevant practice in their health care degree area.

  • Use the computer as a source of information, a method of communication, and a tool for generating necessary documents or materials, and creation and implementation of statistical reports, marketing documents, and other activities.
