Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Health Science CTE Teacher to lead students in developing the skills and knowledge necessary for careers in the healthcare industry. The ideal candidate will have industry experience in health science professions and the ability to create engaging, hands-on learning experiences that prepare students for certification exams and real-world healthcare environments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Instruct students in foundational and advanced health science courses, such as:
- Principles of Health Science
- Health Science Theory and Clinical
- Medical Terminology
- Practicum in Health Science
- Develop lesson plans aligned with state CTE standards and certification requirements.
- Provide classroom and clinical/lab instruction with real-world relevance.
- Monitor and evaluate student performance, maintaining records and preparing reports.
- Integrate technology and hands-on simulations into instruction.
- Prepare students for state or national certifications (e.g., CNA, CPR, OSHA, etc.).
- Collaborate with industry partners, advisory committees, and school staff.
- Maintain industry certifications, licenses, and continuing education.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, legal, and ethical standards in a health science setting.
Qualifications:
Education & Licensure:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in nursing, Health Science, or related field (required)
- Valid state license in a healthcare field (e.g., RN, LVN, EMT) (required)
- CTE certification in Health Science Technology (Not currently required)
- Teaching certification in Health Science (Not currently required)
Experience:
- Minimum of 2–5 years of full-time, recent healthcare industry experience
- Teaching experience in secondary or post-secondary education preferred but not required.
Skills:
- Strong communication and classroom management skills
- Ability to engage diverse learners
- Familiarity with healthcare industry standards and career pathways
- Competence in instructional technology and electronic health records (EHR) systems (preferred)
Working Conditions:
- Will involve teaching in classroom, lab, and clinical environments
- Occasional evenings or weekends for clinical supervision or events
- Exposure to healthcare simulation equipment and supplies
Salary: Based on district salary schedule and experience
Contract: 10-month contract
