JOB SUMMARY:

The Health Informatics Specialist serves as the primary resource for coordinating and integrating clinical information into practice, and accelerates the benefit and improvements available from the various applications utilized by clinical staff. This position understands the relationship between financial system needs and clinical system output and makes system recommendations to meet organization goals.

  • 1.0FTE (40 hours)
  • Mon-Fri
  • On-Call Rotation

Compensation:

  • $35.82/hr +DOE

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Advises leadership and providers of opportunities for increased and more efficient use of Clinical systems.
  2. Coordinates projects to implement additional functionality and enhanced workflows.
  3. Oversees standardization of all new clinical documentation.
  4. Provides consistent, accurate and timely education and orientation for all Clinical Systems users. Assists with onboarding as appropriate.
  5. Develops and implements program to periodically assess provider's system usage, and recommends changes.
  6. Assists support personnel in identifying and resolving system issues and problems.
  7. Provides end-user support.
  8. Is knowledgeable in best-practices for system usage by actively participating in partner hospital educational and informational opportunities.
  9. Develops and maintains clinical system training program and materials.
  10. Thoroughly and accurately reports on and documents system issues.
  11. Assists in development of user policies and procedures.
  12. Participates in the QA impact of clinical and financial systems.
  13. Facilitates the design of screens, forms, data flow and processes with clinical relevance to automate clinical processes.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Maintains flexibility to adapt to a variety of workload assignments and changing priorities.
  2. Job requires the ability to present to and teach groups of people.
  3. Maintains working relationships cross-departmentally to assure appropriate levels of support and services.
  4. Provides recommendations for strategies and resource allocation needed to meet system related goals.
  5. Monitors quality improvement and auditing to ensure full compliance with federal and state guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS (Required):

  1. Associate's and/or BachelorοΏ½s Degree
  2. RN license strongly preferred
  3. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  4. Familiarity with electronic health record usage and best-practice workflow
  5. Ability to communicate effectively about system capabilities as well as system limitations
  6. Demonstrable proficiency in computer technology, including standard hardware and computer system operating systems

ADDITIONAL DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Working knowledge of the Cerner Millennium platform
  2. Current Montana license as a Registered Nurse
  3. Three years or more of clinical nursing experience
  4. Prior committee involvement, Super User, Change Management or project management skills preferred
  5. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience relating to the above tasks, knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered
