Health Educator II (Temporary) - CHS (Countywide)

Join our Team as a Health Educator II

Yavapai County Community Health Services is seeking multiple temporary Health Educator II professionals to support a variety of community health initiatives at our Prescott, Prescott Valley and Cottonwood locations.  These temporary positions offer variable hours and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by promoting public health, outreach, and wellness programming throughout the county.  Ideal candidates will bring strong communication skills, experience in community engagement, and a passion for improving the health of Yavapai County residents.

• Performs health promotion activities for specific subject areas or geographical areas.
• Leads and facilitates group education with both adults and children.
• Assess the health needs of individuals and communities.
• Develop programs, materials, and events to teach people about health topics, such as managing existing conditions.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of programs and educational materials.
• Assists people in finding health services or information.
• Collects and analyzes data to learn about a particular community and improve programs and services.
• Advocates for improved health resources and policies that promote health.
• Develops presentations and presents them to the community for various public health initiatives.
• Fosters community relationships with internal and external partners and coordinates health education activities.
• Attends meetings and completes reports for programs as required.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Education:
Associate degree in a health-related field.

Experience: 
No experience required.
An equivalent combination of directly related work experience and education may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-per-year basis.

Additional Requirements:
Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

• Community health education and promotion issues and practices.
• Resources related to information and training regarding new developments in the field.
• Current health education and promotion of healthy lifestyle choices.
• Business English, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and composition.
• Clerical office practices and procedures.
• Research techniques and report writing.
• Current Microsoft Office software.

• Public speaking.
• Leadership and fostering trust among staff and community partners.
• Communicating effectively verbally and in writing and communicating orally in a face-to-face setting and by telephone with public and employees.
• Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public.

• Instruct others in classroom settings to promote and educate about healthy lifestyle choices.
• Network with and mobilize community partners to adopt and maintain healthy lifestyles.

• Respond to community emergencies with a public health consequence according to YCCHS Emergency Response Plan.
• Keep management informed of key operating issues affecting the department.
• Remain current in knowledge required to perform assigned duties.
• Handle confidential matters and maintain discretion always.
