  1. Summary

This position will work within parameters set by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. and a tier one fitness governing body outlined below, to perform all roles and responsibilities. The Health Educator will work under the general direction of the Atlantic Corporate Health manager, assistant manager or coordinator, and Occupational Health Medical Director. This health professional is responsible for the development, implementation, and administration of a comprehensive health and wellness initiatives designed to engage client-company employees.

  1. Essential Job Functions 
    1. Analyze employee health data using a systems approach to in order to establish targeted population programming
    2. Assist in the research, design, instruction, management, and evaluation of health promotion programs using health promotion theory and ecological framework including, but not limited to, incentivized reward programing and benefits design that follows approved Atlantic Corporate Health policy and procedures, work within CHES®/CCWS® nature and scope and/or refer to the appropriate healthcare provider for all program implementation and development
    3. Conduct needs assessments to inform health and wellness initiatives
    4. Develop and deliver corporate client employee wellness programs within scope (including and not limited to lessons, presentations, policy and procedures, and programming) 
    5. Instructs exercise classes, if applicable 
    6. Monitor each program to assure efficient and effective quality service 
    7. Monitor employee program outcomes to create compliance and improve health outcomes
    8. Provide fitness program consultation, administration, classes, evaluations and technical assistance, if applicable 
    9. Provide overviews, updates, and statistics of such programs at regular intervals
    10. Stay up-to-date with health related issues as well as trends that are of concern to diverse employee populations and be a health resource and advocate
    11. Perform related duties as assigned


Qualifications

Qualifications

  1. Education— A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution of higher education in Health Education/Promotion, Public Health, Exercise Science or related field
  2. Certifications and Licenses— Maintain applicable certifications and licenses:
    1. Certified Health Education Specialist (M/CHES®) or CCWS®, required
    2. CPR for Health Care Provider certification, or the ability to obtain post hire
    3. Fitness Certification from Tier One Organization (e.g. tier one fitness certification—ACSM, NSCA, ACE), preferred
    4. Valid Driver’s License and reliable vehicle, required
    5. RYT (a.k.a. Yoga Certification), preferred 
  3. Experience and Skills—  
    1. Customer service and client responsiveness
    2. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
    3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of Services
    4. Strong proficiency in both written and spoken Spanish and English languages, strongly preferred
    5. Work experience in a corporate worksite health promotion setting, knowledge of current health related issues as well as trends that are of concern to diverse employee populations, preferred
