Full Stack Engineer - Healthcare AI

Vivo HealthStaff is recruiting for a Software Engineer or Senior Software Engineer in San Francisco, CA. This is a full-time, in-person position with competitive salary and equity.

Position Overview:
Our client, an early-stage healthtech company, is building technology to help patients access better care through data-driven platforms. They are seeking a high-performing Software Engineer or Senior Software Engineer to join their team in San Francisco and help scale core backend systems. The ideal candidate thrives in a high-ownership environment and is passionate about solving problems in healthcare—especially in high-need areas such as oncology and chronic care.

Position Details:

• Title: Full Stack Engineer - Healthcare AI

• Location: San Francisco, CA

• Schedule: In-person, 5 days per week

• Workload: 40+ hours per week in a fast-paced environment

• Compensation: Competitive salary + meaningful equity (20–80 basis points, based on experience)

What We’re Looking For:

• 3–6 years of professional software engineering experience (open to exceptional junior or senior candidates)

• Strong backend development skills using Python (required); experience with React or other frontend frameworks is a plus

• Proven ability to build and ship new product features independently

• Experience working in fast-moving, early-stage companies or teams

• Comfortable operating in an environment without rigid roadmaps or layers of oversight

• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams

• Interest in healthcare technology and patient impact—experience or passion for oncology or AI applications in healthcare is a plus

• This role is hands-on and not intended for those seeking people management in the near term

Role Responsibilities:

• Work closely with the CTO and founding team to scale backend systems

• Design and deploy integrations with electronic health records (EHRs) and build infrastructure for onboarding new users

• Expand the company’s AI capabilities in natural language and voice interfaces

• Take ownership of full-stack development tasks, with a backend focus (70% backend / 30% frontend)

• Write reliable, testable code that is deployed in production-facing systems

• Operate with high autonomy and accountability
