Bay Harbor Yacht Club is seeking an experienced and motivated Fitness Director to lead operations at its amazing and newly renovated Wellness Center. This full-time, year-round position oversees fitness programming, staff management, and retail merchandising for fitness apparel and accessories. The Fitness Director is responsible for maintaining a high-quality, engaging, and safe environment while driving participation in group exercise and personal training programs. This role combines operational leadership with hands-on involvement in merchandising, budgeting, and member relations to ensure an exceptional wellness experience for BHYC members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the Wellness Center and ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for members and guests.
- Manage merchandising for fitness-related retail items, including ordering, display, and inventory control.
- Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise fitness staff; ensure all certifications and service standards are current.
- Develop, market, and lead group exercise and personal training programs to meet member needs and departmental goals.
- Monitor participation levels, program performance, and member feedback; adjust offerings accordingly.
- Manage departmental budgets, payroll, and scheduling to ensure fiscal responsibility and operational efficiency.
- Maintain fitness equipment and ensure preventative maintenance and repair schedules are followed.
- Collaborate with the Communications team to promote fitness programs and provide content for newsletters, digital signage, and the Club website.
- Provide hands-on support by manning the fitness desk as needed to ensure consistent coverage and member assistance.
- Respond promptly and professionally to member inquiries, feedback, and concerns.
- Maintain a visible presence within the facility to ensure smooth daily operations and high member satisfaction.
- Participate in the Manager on Duty (MOD) rotation and support Club-wide initiatives as needed.
- Additional duties as assigned by management.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Health Promotion, Physical Education, or a related field required.
- Minimum of two years of experience in fitness management, preferably in a private club, resort, or hospitality setting.
- Current national certification from NSCA, ACSM, NASM, ACE, or AFAA.
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with POS and scheduling systems preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and lead group exercise classes and personal training sessions.

- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and member service.
- Physical ability to lift up to 45 pounds and perform tasks requiring bending, standing, and walking for extended periods.
