Description

Full-time tenure track position in the Division of Nursing and Health Professions to teach   coordinate and evaluate the Health Sciences program on the main and branch campuses. The position requires face to face accountability on the main and branch campuses.  Responsibilities include teaching and evaluating students in the Health Science Program. Including but not limited to scheduling courses, adjunct instructors and program assessment.  Additional functions of full time faculty include curriculum development implementation and assessment and serving on Division and College committees. May include assignment of courses in related areas and support courses. Assignments include strategic planning, career development, transfer opportunities. 

 Travel between campuses for meetings, college activities, and professional development opportunities will be required.

Examples of Duties

  1. Instructs and evaluates in various courses in the Health Science program. 
  2. Advises students in the Health Science major to ensure appropriate courses align with career plans.
  3. Recruits students to RCSJ and promotes opportunities for Health Science majors.
  4. Recommends adjunct faculty to teach all courses in the Health Science program to Administration. 
  5. Collaborates on the assessment of adjunct instruction in the Health Science program. 
  6. Assist with the development of assessment tools and collection of data for courses program outcomes for the Health Science programs.
  7. Complies data and meets College program review compliance. 
  8. Collaborates with administration teams for scheduling and room assignments.
  9. Collaborates with College leadership for internship opportunities.
  10. Coordinates and collaborates with higher education affiliates to explore programs to assist students with transfer opportunities. 
  1. Develops and updates Health Science course syllabi and related materials to reflect contemporary practice.
  2. Collaborates with other faculty in the development of effective teaching/learning and retention strategies.
  3. Actively participates in the assessment, implementation, and evaluation of the Health Science Programs.
  4. Actively participates in the accreditation process for initial and continuing accreditation. 
  5. Maintains necessary academic records and submits records according to published deadlines.
  6. Demonstrate fairness and flexibility in interactions with a diverse student population. 
  7. Participates in College governance and operations through Division and College committees.
  8. Contributes to the community as a representative of the College.
  9. Fulfills campus-wide responsibilities.
  10. Maintains professional competence by participating in on-going clinical practice, continuing education, professional conferences, research, and writing relevant to faculty responsibilities.
  11. Meets clinical agency expectations such current BLS certification in CPR, health and Criminal history requirements and agency specific training. 
  12. Earned Masters degree within two years of hire date. 
  13. Performs other duties, as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate Health Science discipline from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ recent clinical experience in a healthcare setting
  • Demonstrated leadership and teaching experience
  • Demonstrated organizational skills
  • Ability to design and implement successful pedagogical strategies for students exhibiting a broad range of abilities
  • Utilization of innovative teaching methods incorporating technology, including online resources
  • Commitment and ability to utilize instructional strategies to promote student recruitment, retention, and success
  • Ability to help students adjust to the college academic community
  • Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form
  • Dedication to improving college course offerings by active participation in curriculum processes, including outcomes assessment
  • Commitment to campus life by participation in college-sponsored activities and functions
  • Involvement with College Committees and Task Forces
  • Proven commitment to scholarly achievement and professional growth
  • Participation in community service
  • Ability to travel to multiple educational institutions, utilizing personal vehicle for travel
  • Possess the ability to work well and communicate effectively with prospective and current students, staff, faculty, administration, and colleagues and community partners
  • Demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff, and a commitment to a student-centered environment
 
 QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED
  • Earned Doctorate in a related area
  • Clinical experience in a variety of settings
  • Experience in teaching nursing students and/or healthcare professionals
  • Teaching in Health Science courses in various modalities
  • Strong technology skills related to pedagogical instruction
  • Current knowledge of associate degree nursing and teaching methodologies
  • Experience in outcomes assessment and program evaluation methodologies
  • Familiarity with community college education
