Role Summary
The EHS Specialist is responsible for supporting Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) programs in a manufacturing environment. This role ensures compliance with applicable safety, occupational health, environmental, and regulatory requirements through risk identification, incident prevention, ergonomics management, and continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess strong EHS experience in manufacturing environments with demonstrated experience in ergonomics and preferred exposure to Industrial Hygiene practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) requirements through inspections, hazard identification, risk assessments, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Administer and support the ergonomics program, including ergonomic evaluations, workstation assessments, and follow-up on corrective improvements.
- Support Industrial Hygiene-related activities (preferred), including occupational exposure evaluations, hazard identification, and implementation of risk mitigation strategies.
- Support and maintain the ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management System, ensuring compliance with internal procedures, audits, corrective actions, risk management activities, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Conduct EHS audits, incident investigations, root cause analysis, and risk assessments to reduce workplace hazards and improve compliance.
- Deliver EHS training programs, including new employee orientation and recurring compliance-related training.
- Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Facilities, and other functional teams to evaluate process changes, new equipment, and workplace modifications to ensure safe and compliant practices.
- Coordinate activities with regulatory agencies, emergency response organizations, and internal stakeholders, as required.
Analyze safety trends, observations, incident data, and ergonomic findings to support continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS), Occupational Health, Safety, or related disciplines.
- Bachelor degree in Science, Engineering, Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, or related field.
- Experience conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, workplace inspections, hazard identification, and corrective/preventive actions.
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and Environmental, Health & Safety standards.
- Experience supporting or working within an ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management System, including compliance, audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Experience supporting ergonomics programs, including workstation assessments, ergonomic evaluations, and implementation of corrective actions.
- Strong communication, facilitation, and cross-functional collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting regulated or high-risk manufacturing environments including Medical Device, Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, Electronics, Electromechanical, Aerospace, Industrial Manufacturing, or similar industries with elevated occupational exposure and safety risks.
- Experience in Medical Device manufacturing environments.
- Industrial Hygiene experience or knowledge including occupational exposure assessment, environmental monitoring, identification of chemical, physical, and ergonomic hazards, and mitigation controls.
- Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, CHMM, OSHA certifications, Ergonomics related certifications, or equivalent.
