Home of the Innocents is seeking a mission-driven Director of Clinical Education to lead clinical training and professional development at the Kosair for Kids Complex Care Center (KCC). This leader will ensure team members receive high-quality, evidence-based education that supports regulatory compliance, clinical excellence, and exceptional care for medically complex children and young adults.
How This Role Contributes to Our Mission
The Director of Clinical Education advances our mission of enriching the lives of children and families with hope, health, and happiness by leading clinical education initiatives that promote excellence, safety, and professional development across the Kosair for Kids Complex Care Center.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design and delivery of clinical education and competency-based training, including orientation, continuing education, in-services, skills training, and CPR/BLS programs.
Align education initiatives with Home of the Innocents and KCC strategic priorities, incorporating evidence-based practices and trauma-informed care.
Partner with Organizational Learning & Development and departmental leaders to identify training priorities and clinical competencies.
Oversee onboarding and professional development for new KCC team members.
Build and manage academic partnerships and coordinate student clinical rotations.
Measure and evaluate training effectiveness through data analysis, quality improvement initiatives, and performance metrics.
Maintain training documentation and regulatory readiness, including serving as Nurse Administrator for the Kentucky Board of Nursing CE Providership.
Serve as a subject matter expert for the learning management system, developing and managing clinical education content.
Recruit, mentor, and supervise Clinical Nurse Educators.
Participate in committees including QAPI, Infection Control, and Quality Improvement.
Provide leadership support in the absence of the Senior Vice President/Administrator.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Active, unencumbered Kentucky RN license
Minimum 2 years of RN experience in acute care or long-term care
Current CPR/BLS certification (or ability to obtain)
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary healthcare environment
Preferred Qualifications
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
Pediatric nursing experience
Nursing Professional Development Certification
Experience in clinical education, professional development, or academic partnerships
Experience with quality improvement and outcomes measurement
Instructional design training or bilingual or multilingual abilities
Work Schedule
Full-time, exempt position
Primarily Monday–Friday, daytime hours
Flexibility required to support a 24/7 healthcare environment
Occasional evening or weekend hours may be needed for training and special projects
Primarily on-site at the Kosair for Kids Complex Care Center with limited local travel
