Job Title:  Teacher

Wage/Hour Status: Exempt

Reports to: Principal                                       

Dept./School: Assigned Campus                       

Primary Purpose:

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

 

Qualifications:

 

     Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
  • Valid Texas teacher certification or corresponding college hours and field certification
  • Current licensure, certification, or registration by a nationally recognized accrediting agency as a health professions practitioner.
  • Registered Nurse preferred.

 

     Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Knowledge of core academic subject assigned
  • General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Knowledge of Health Science clinical rotations and internship requirements, policies and procedures
  • Ability to align Health Science curriculum to targeted industry certification exams
  • Ability to provide content knowledge and skills in health-related professions
  • Ability to market Health Science program to students, staff, parents and business community
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adjust and adapt to a multitude of situations in the school and medical environment
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior

 

     Experience:

  • Two (2) years of full-time wage-earning experience as a health professions practitioner utilizing one or more of the licensure(s) required for practice in a specific health profession

  • Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
