CTE/Health Sciences Teacher

 

A Health Science Teacher prepares students for careers in healthcare, teaching them about medical terminology, human body systems, and other healthcare-related topics. They implement curriculum, assess student progress, and provide feedback to students and parents. The job also involves creating a safe and supportive learning environment.

 

Qualifications:

1. Kentucky Teaching Certificate with proper

    endorsements.

2. Additional qualifications as

    Superintendent or Board may find

    appropriate and acceptable.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Instruction:
Deliver engaging and effective lessons in health science, utilizing various teaching methods like hands-on activities and simulations.


Curriculum Development:
Develop and implement curriculum that aligns with school district standards and prepares students for future healthcare careers.


Assessment:
Evaluate student learning through various methods like tests, projects, and presentations.


Classroom Management:
Maintain a positive and safe learning environment, ensuring all students are engaged and supported.

 

Collaboration:
Work with other teachers, staff, and administrators to support student success and school-wide initiatives.

 

Communication:
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to provide feedback and updates on student progress.

 

Professional Development:
Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in health science and education through professional development opportunities.

 

Technology Integration:
Utilize technology effectively to enhance instruction and engagement, such as online learning platforms and digital tools.

 

Reports To: 

Principal/Program Supervisor

 

 

Job Duties/ Responsibilities:

1. Provide professional leadership within

    school, community, and education

    profession to improve student learning  

    as well as support district and state

    initiatives.

2. Demonstrates content knowledge within

    assigned discipline(s) or program and in

    applications to other disciplines.

3. Plans, implements and assesses

    instruction designed to develop students’

    abilities to use certain skills, apply core

    concepts. To insure students self- sufficient individuals,

    responsible team members, with the ability to think

    and solve problems integrate knowledge. 

4. Assess student learning using a variety

    tools consistent with Kentucky’s

    Assessment Program; communicate

    results to students, parents and staff,

    make referrals for extra services as

    necessary. Use assessment results to

    design appropriate instructional activities 

    Creates and supervises learning climate

    that supports student achievement and

    safety.

6. Evaluates teaching effectiveness based

    on student achievement in relation to

    student attainment of Kentucky’s

    learning goals.

7. Uses technology to support instruction;

    access and manipulate data; enhance

    professional growth and productivity;

    communicate and collaborate with

    colleagues, parents and the community;

    and conduct research/solve problems.

8. Participates in required training relative

    to teaching assignments, supervisor

    approved professional growth plan,

    school/district initiatives, or as directed

    by Principal..

9. Secures and makes use of school and

    community resources. Communicates

    regularly with parents and guardians of

    students.

10. Adheres to school, district, state and

    federal policies, regulations and laws.

11. Participates in school-related activities,

    programs or meetings as assigned by

    Principal and/or the Superintendent.

12. Maintains a variety of records as

    required by school district policies,

    state and federal law or as assigned by

    Principal.

13. Provides instruction specific to

    teaching assignment consistent

    with school and district program

    requirements or curriculum,

    Kentucky’s Core Content for

    Assessment, Program of Studies

    and national teacher standards.

14. Serves as a member of the ARC

     (Admissions, Release Committee)

     in determining eligibility of students

     for special education programs; assists  

     in development, implementation,

     monitoring and evaluation of IEP

     (Individual Education Plan).

15. All other duties assigned by

     Superintendent and Principal.

Evaluations: Principal and/or Asst. Principal
