    CONTRACT: 12-Month, Exempt, Professional Support
    SALARY: $61,870.04 +

    JOB OBJECTIVE:
    Responsible for assisting the Director Environmental Safety and Regulatory Affairs in leading and executing district-wide environmental, health, safety, and emergency preparedness initiatives. This role includes oversight of compliance programs, EHS program audits, site evaluations, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) to ensure a safe and compliant environment for students, staff, and stakeholders.  This position also serves as the Deputy Emergency Manager and Safety Officer within the District’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC). 
     
    REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
    1. Lead daily operations of district safety programs including Life Safety Systems, employee and student protection systems, and emergency response protocols. 
    2. Attend meetings, trainings, and conferences as required; may work extended hours or weekends as needed. 
    3. Serve as a certified trainer for First Aid, CPR, AED, and Stop the Bleed programs. 
    4. Serve as a certified trainer for OSHA 10 and 30-hour courses.  
    5. Utilize digital platforms and software tools to conduct inspections, manage compliance documentation, and deliver training modules. 
    6. Collaborate with district leadership, facilities teams, and external agencies to ensure alignment of safety goals and regulatory compliance. 
    7. Assist in developing and managing the EHS program budget, including resource allocation for training, equipment, and compliance initiatives. 
    8. Develop and maintain safety performance metrics and dashboards; analyze trends to inform decision-making and risk mitigation strategies. 
    9. Prepare written and verbal reports on safety performance, risk assessments, and compliance status. 
    10. Interpret architectural and mechanical drawings to support safety planning and inspections. 
    11. Participate in emergency response activities and coordinate with local emergency services. 
    12. Oversee hazardous and biological waste management in compliance with applicable regulations. 
    13. Support regulatory reporting and ensure timely submission of environmental, health, and safety documentation. 
    14. Serve as Deputy Emergency Manager and Safety Officer in the District’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC), supporting emergency response coordination and safety oversight. 
    15. Assist in the development, implementation, and review of the district’s Emergency Operations Plan and crisis management procedures. 
    16. Develop, conduct, and deliver relevant training to employees. 
    17. Conduct safety training needs assessments and collaborate on developing training plans tailored to job roles and facility risks. 
    18. Maintain and apply knowledge of OSHA, ADA, and International Fire Code (IFC) regulations, along with other federal, state, and local requirements. 
    19. Perform EHS program audits and Job Hazard Analyses to identify risks and recommend mitigation strategies. 
    20. Conduct and review incident and accident investigations, ensuring thorough documentation and follow-up.

    SUPERVISES: No supervisory responsibilities
     
    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full-time, 12 month, exempt position.
     
    EVALUATION: Performance appraisal conducted annually.
     
    GENERAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
     
    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

     
    • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or other related field required. 
    • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in environmental health and safety, with at least one year in a supervisory or lead role. 
    • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. 

    ENVIRONMENT/WORKING CONDITIONS:
    Office setting, various district locations, indoor/outdoor including hazardous locations.
     
    EQUIPMENT:
    Compliance testing instruments, various motor vehicles, computer, photocopier, telephone and various software packages.
     
    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
    • Strong understanding of OSHA, ADA, and IFC codes and regulations. 
    • Experience in emergency planning and response in educational or institutional settings. 
    • Ability to lead and supervise staff effectively. 
    • Strong organizational and multitasking skills. 
    • Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings and specifications. 
    • Excellent communication and report-writing skills. 
    • Dependable, punctual, and collaborative. 

    SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
    • Valid Oklahoma Driver’s License. 
    • Ability to obtain relevant certifications (e.g., NIMS, FEMA). 
    • Safety, Health, and Environmental Professional (SHEP) or other equivalent certification required within one year of employment. 
    • Oklahoma Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) or other equivalent certification required within one year of employment. 
    • Must be an OSHA Authorized Trainer in General Industry, or willing to obatain.
    • Must be certified to instruct First Aid, CPR, AED, and Stop the Bleed training programs.
