The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Cytology Supervisors, the Lab Clinical Support Tech III exercises advanced knowledge, judgment and problem-solving skills. Serves as primary resource for general administrative functions regarding specimens, reports, ancillary studies, clerical functions, and patient scheduling.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Manages all incoming telephone calls and faxes. Addresses questions and issues, or triages them appropriately
  • Triages special procedure requests, documenting patient history, location of procedure and requesting physician. Alerts appropriate cytotechnologist and pathologist
  • Identifies and resolves problems with specimens and patient demographics
  • Handles additional testing requests
  • Assists with slide filing and patient demographics


MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Associate's degree in Laboratory Sciences and technical training closely related to this position required
  • 1 year of laboratory experience preferred
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Familiarity with medical terminology preferred
  • Ability to maintain a friendly and courteous professional manner at all times
  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with co-workers and customers
  • Ability to prioritize and maintain focus while dealing with simultaneous requests and/or frequent interruptions
