Description

The Clinical Operations Manager will provide essential support for the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders clinical training operations. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with professional requirements, managing student clinical data, and coordinating clinical experiences. 

This position is a full-time, twelve-month, staff position. The Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating clinical data needs that contribute to the respective missions of the University, College, School, and Department. This role requires a highly organized and detail-oriented individual with excellent communication skills to effectively coordinate activities between department faculty, students, clinical sites, and administrative staff.  Additional responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: clinical database management, support of program assessment, accreditation standards and reports, and student events. The staff member will collaborate with the Director of Clinical Education, students, university personnel, clinical partners, clinical software personnel, and other stakeholders to ensure efficient management of the clinical programs.  

This position is a limited-term appointment through June 30, 2028. Continuation of this position past June 30, 2028 is contingent upon funding availability.

Job Duties

  • Work collaboratively with the clinical education faculty as directed by the department chair.
  • Monitor and maintain student compliance with clinical requirements, including CPR certification, background checks, immunizations, and other health/safety prerequisites.
  • Track compliance deadlines and coordinate renewal processes.
  • Ensure adherence to HIPAA and other privacy regulations in on and off-campus clinical activities.
  • Assist the clinical education faculty in implementing clinical procedures and policies.
  • Assist the clinical education faculty in securing and maintaining clinical affiliation databases.
  • Assurance of quality and compliance of clinical sites and preceptors; clinical placements; adherence to all accreditation guidelines.
  • Communicate with students to gather required data and/or medical records for clinical placements.
  • Manage student requirements in compliance/tracking software.
  • Schedule and organize on-campus clinical activities.
  • Assist clinical education faculty with the collection and organization of data for assessment and accreditation reports.
  • Maintain databases for clinical consent and release forms.
  • Organize and support student events and community education activities.
  • Plan and facilitate service activities that engage students in community outreach, promote professional development, and strengthen partnerships with local organizations.
  • All other duties as assigned by department chair, dean, provost, or president.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. - Health Administration, Education, Business Administration, Behavioral Sciences, Speech-Language Pathology, etc.).
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in higher education, healthcare, or a related area.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to uphold Samford’s Christian mission.
  • Knowledge of planning and scheduling tools.
  • Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.
  • Knowledge of office management principles and procedures.
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Ability to coordinate and organize meetings and/or special events
  • Ability to interact with students, faculty, and/or staff in a team environment.
  • Analytical, evaluative, and critical thinking skills.
  • Frequently view a computer screen up to 7 hours per day.
  • Occasionally move in an office setting to access filing cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Ability to report to work daily from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g. - Health Administration, Education, Business Administration, Behavioral Sciences, Speech-Language Pathology, etc.).
  • Experience in healthcare, rehabilitation, or educational settings.
  • Familiarity with speech-language pathology profession and ASHA requirements.
  • Background in compliance monitoring or quality assurance.
  • Experience with healthcare or educational data management systems.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and student privacy regulations.
  • Proficiency in database management.
