Overview:

The Clinical Informatics Nurse is a vital member of the healthcare team, responsible for implementing and optimizing health information technology systems to enhance patient care and clinical outcomes. This role blends clinical nursing expertise with informatics knowledge to improve data management, and system usability, and facilitate better decision-making in healthcare settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. System Optimization:

   - Collaborate with IT and clinical staff to improve Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and other health information technologies.

   - Analyze workflows and processes to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions.

   - Participate in system upgrades, testing, and validation to ensure smooth transitions.

     2. Data Management:

   - Monitor and analyze clinical data to support quality initiatives and research.

   - Ensure the accuracy and integrity of clinical documentation and compliance with regulations.

   - Provide training and support to nursing staff on data entry, retrieval, and reporting.

      3. User Support and Training:

   - Educate clinical staff on the effective use of informatics systems and technology.

   - Develop training materials and conduct education sessions for nurses and other healthcare personnel.

   - Serve as a liaison between clinical staff and IT to address concerns and enhance user experience.

     4.  Quality Improvement:

   - Utilize data analysis to drive clinical quality improvement initiatives and outcomes.

   - Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop best practices and guidelines.

   - Participate in health information management committees and projects.

     5.   Research and Evaluation:

   - Engage in research activities related to health informatics and its impact on patient care.

   - Evaluate the effectiveness of informatics solutions in improving clinical processes and patient outcomes.

   - Stay updated with advancements in health informatics and nursing practice.

Qualifications:

- Current and valid nursing license required.

- Certification in Nursing Informatics is preferred.

- Experience in clinical nursing of at least 5 years required.

- Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills.

- Proficiency in EHR systems (Epic preferred) and healthcare IT applications required.

Work Environment:

The Clinical Informatics Nurse typically works in a hospital, healthcare setting, or organization focused on health technology, collaborating with various departments to promote data-driven decision-making and enhance patient care quality.
