The Clinical Educator is responsible for providing orientation, training, and education for clinical nursing personnel to ensure consistent standards of practice and competencies in the delivery of patient care. This position accomplishes this by assessing, planning and implementing educational programs to support new hire orientation, staff development, and competency training. The Educator ensures practices are aligned with the Franciscan Alliance values and the strategic goals of the department and organization to improve patient and staff outcomes.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
  • Act as a change agent by introducing and supporting new ideas as well as assisting in the implementation and sustainment of change strategies.
  • Assess simulation-based education needs by collecting data and feedback. Plan and design experiential-based learning events around identified objectives.
  • Facilitate the development of educational activities based on the target audience learner needs ensuring adult learning principles are incorporated. Coordinates the training and development.
  • Facilitate the communication between management, staff, ancillary departments, and professional contacts across the Franciscan Alliance. Utilizes appropriate channels of communication.
  • Serves as a leader to promote the professional growth of peers.
  • Facilitate interdepartmental collaboration to achieve project and organizational goals
  • Serve as a resource for and contributes to the professional development of interdisciplinary team members.
  • Perform and report the gaps between processes, procedures, and system functionality between Current State and Desired Future State Analysis.
  • Serve as a reliable source of information on the latest evidence. Leads in the conduct and utilization of educational research, evidence-based practice and process improvement.
  • Develop, pilot, evaluate, and incorporate innovative models of practice.
  • Participate in need identification, selection and evaluation of products and equipment.
  • Supports staff development with educational activities including remediation, certification, mentoring, regulatory requirements, new equipment/procedures, and EMR updates. Supports and guides staff in their personal and professional development goals and objectives.
  • Mentors and trains educators in Simulation Standards of Best Practice
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree BSN - Nursing
  • Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association
  • Required Registered Nurse (RN) - State Licensing Board
  • 2 years in Clinical or Simulation Education
  • Preferred Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association
  • Preferred 3 years Nursing/Patient Care
  • Preferred Board Certification (BRD CERT)
  • Preferred Master's Degree Nursing Education/Leadership/Clinical Nurse Specialist
