Wellington Free Ambulance is seeking passionate and experienced clinicians to join our team as Clinical Educators in both full-time and part-time roles.

Wellington Free Ambulance’s vision is to be a trusted and reliable ambulance service that provides excellence in emergency response and connected services to move our communities to better health.

We’re the only emergency ambulance service for Greater Wellington and Wairarapa and proud of the place we hold in our communities, and the high-quality care that our people deliver every day.  As well as providing emergency ambulance services, Wellington Free Ambulance also provides a Patient Transfer Service that transports patients to and from scheduled healthcare appointments, a Clinical Communications Centre answering 111 calls, and Event Medical support to a huge number of community, sporting and festival events. We also teach our communities lifesaving CPR skills through The Lloyd Morrison Foundation Heartbeat Programme.

Wellington Free Ambulance has been described as having a boutique feel due to the specific region we serve.  Our region covers an area from Cook Strait in the south to just north of Waikanae around Peka Peka on the Kāpiti Coast. In the Wairarapa, our area goes as far north as Mt Bruce. In total, around 500,000 people call our region home. Description

Some of the responsibilities in this role include:

  • Deliver clinical education and training programmes that support safe, effective, and person-centred practice.
  • Support the Clinical Education Manager in building clinical capability and workforce development across the organisation.
  • Facilitate onboarding and bridging programmes for new employees to support successful transition into practice.
  • Conduct clinical assessments, review competence requirements, and support staff progression into new and advanced roles.
  • Develop individual learning plans and provide guidance to support professional growth, performance improvement, and career development.
  • Design, develop, and facilitate high-quality in-person and online learning opportunities that build clinical capability, support continuous professional development, and meet organisational learning needs.
  • Provide clinical expertise and advice to the Learning Design team to ensure learning solutions are clinically relevant, evidence-based, and aligned with best practice.
  • Collaborate with leaders and clinical teams to identify learning needs and implement targeted capability development initiatives.
  • Monitor and evaluate learning outcomes, making recommendations for continuous improvement to education programmes and resources.

Skills And Experiences

Who we are looking for

You’re an experienced and motivated clinician with a passion for education. You bring: 

  • Knowledge and application of Adult Learning Principles
  • Previous experience in delivering education or training to a variety of audiences
  • Computer skills (MS Suite to intermediate level, PowerPoint to advanced level)
  • Passion for delivering quality education to develop staff capability and clinical excellence
  • Focus on enhancing your own professional development requirements
  • Able to communicate effectively to all levels and a variety of audiences
  • Registered clinician or health professional (or equivalent skills/knowledge)
  • Relevant undergraduate papers or postgraduate qualifications in education or open to working towards
  • Recognised preceptor OR mentoring training programmes or previous experience
  • Proven organisation skills with good time management ability
