Description

The Clinical Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and evaluating clinical placements for students in the Associate Degree Nursing (ADN), Practical Nursing, and Health Care Assistant programs. This includes securing and maintaining clinical affiliate sites in alignment with program objectives and accreditation standards.  This is Clinical Coordinator is a 12-month professional staff position reporting to Dean of Health Sciences.

Serving as the primary liaison between the college and clinical partners, the Clinical Coordinator ensures compliance with clinical requirements and facilitates positive, collaborative relationships with hospitals, clinics, private practices, and other healthcare organizations.

This role requires strong communication and problem-solving skills to support student success and address clinical site logistics. The Clinical Coordinator must possess a comprehensive understanding of nursing education and clinical practice to effectively support students and uphold program integrity.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
  • Unencumbered current license to practice in MS.
  • Knowledge of clinical site requirements and accreditation standards.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Must possess and maintain a criminal background check deemed acceptable in accordance with institutional and clinical partner requirements.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in community college settings.
  • Experience in clinical education or coordination.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

  1. Coordinate and administer clinical placements for students of assigned health science programs.
  2. Maintain and update clinical affiliation agreements.
  3. Assists in the acquisition and negotiation of clinical sites and agreements.
  4. Oversee student documentation, orientation, and clinical clearance processes.
  5. Obtain and provide orientation and ongoing training for faculty and students on the use of clinical placement technology systems; attend meetings and maintain proficiency in platforms used for clinical scheduling, documentation, and compliance tracking.
  6. Communicate regularly with faculty, students, and clinical site representatives.
  7. Evaluate and ensure the effectiveness of clinical experiences.
  8. Travel to clinical sites, healthcare facilities, or career fairs as needed to establish and maintain affiliation agreements, foster professional relationships, and promote program visibility.
  9. Prepare and submit required reports and records.
  10. Support faculty and students in clinical settings.
  11. Assist with student admission applications to the School of Health Science Programs
  12. Ensure compliance with accreditation and regulatory requirements.
  13. Participate in college events, meetings, and professional development.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean of Health Sciences.

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of clinical site requirements and accreditation standards.
  • Ability to take initiative to solve problems.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. 
  • Experience using technology including email, word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation software, and Internet use. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact tactfully and courteously with students, faculty, staff, and the general public. 
  • Ability to collaborate with others and work as part of a team.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Must be a “quick study” to quickly grasp and retain knowledge of policies and procedures. 
  • Demonstrate oral and written communication skills to interact with a wide range of diverse individuals. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the position is regularly required to do the following:

  • Flexible schedule is required to meet department needs, as some evenings, weekends, and extended hours may be required. 
  • Travel to clinical sites, healthcare facilities, or career fairs as needed to establish and maintain affiliation agreements, foster professional relationships, and promote program visibility.
  • Stand for long periods, talk, hear, view, and assist students 
  • Communicate with others in person, telephone, zoom, & live chat
  • Sit, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms
  • Stand, walk, stoop, or kneel
  • Lift and/or move items of at least 15-20 pounds
