Business Analyst – EMR Implementation

The Business Analyst will play a key role in bridging clinical stakeholders and technical teams to ensure successful EMR implementations. This role requires someone who can analyse complex clinical workflows, translate them into clear technical requirements, and ensure the final solution is effective, user-friendly, and widely adopted. The Business Analyst will be central to driving project success, improving healthcare workflows, and enabling better patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gather, analyse, and document business and clinical requirements into functional and technical specifications (user stories, BRDs, process flows)

  • Conduct stakeholder interviews, workflow analysis, and workshops to identify pain points and define solutions

  • Propose build options for EMR platforms such as Epic, Cerner, Veeva, or Meditech, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness

  • Act as the primary liaison between stakeholders and technical teams to ensure requirements are implemented correctly

  • Develop and execute test cases (unit, functional, UAT) to validate solutions against requirements

  • Manage requirements traceability across the full project lifecycle, from initiation through go-live

  • Support project managers by identifying risks, issues, and dependencies related to requirements and scope

  • Create and maintain documentation such as requirement catalogues, process diagrams, and training materials

  • Provide expert support to end-users during training, go-live, and post-implementation phases

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare, Life Sciences, or related field

  • 1-3 years of experience as a Business Analyst in EMR/EHR or clinical system implementations

  • Hands-on experience with major EMR platforms (Epic, Cerner, Veeva, Meditech); certification is preferred

  • Strong knowledge of requirements gathering techniques and documentation standards

  • Understanding of clinical workflows such as patient scheduling, orders, documentation, and research

  • Knowledge of healthcare data standards (HL7, FHIR)

  • Experience with testing methodologies and tools

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage clinicians and executives alike

  • Preferred: Experience in life sciences or clinical research, knowledge of EMR integration with systems like EDC or CTMS, CBAP certification, and proficiency with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Visio, or Lucidchart
