Description:

Position Summary The Assistant Director/HR Clinical Liaison serves as the leader of the HR Attendance Management team and the primary clinical liaison between Human Resources and UHS. This role provides clinical and administrative expertise to support Human Resource strategies, the temporary return to work transition program, reasonable accommodations, and attendance management decisions. This role also provides clinical expertise to support employee health, wellness, and workforce initiatives while ensuring alignment with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and best practices. Additionally, this role collaborates with HR, UHS, Resource Optimization Center, OAE, Workers' Compensation, University Payroll and Benefits, Office of Legal Counsel, Employee Relations, UIC HR, VCHA, SURS, and other partners as required to facilitate case management and promote a safe, healthy work environment. Duties & Responsibilities • Department/Specialty Specific Responsibilities • The Assistant Director & HR Clinical Liaison role includes approximately 85% % Administrative and 15% clinical duties. • Clinical Duties include but are not limited to: • Collaborates with the Director of Employee Relations, Office of Legal Counsel, OAE, UHS Workers Compensation, and University partners as needed to provide administrative employee assessments based on an identified need in compliance with local, state, and federal mandates. • Provides administrative consultations related to workers’ compensation restrictive duty options within the hospital, family medical leave usage (including flare-ups, temporarily reduced work schedule, late arrivals, temporarily medical accommodations), pregnancy act, ADA, restricted duty assignments based on a medical need, reasonable accommodations cases and short- and long-term disability case management for the Hospital & Clinics and the Office of the Vice Chancellor of Health Affairs. • Provides clinical consultation and reviews of request and documentation from employees and their medical providers (as required per leave category) as to its sufficiency to support the leave requests. • Provides clinical consultation and review of requests for additional documentation as needed from employees, including re-certification, as necessary. • Coordinates and/or assist with Fit Testing, Influenza and TB compliance activities. • Administrative Duties include but are not limited to: • Manages the department’s day-to-day operations, including best practice standards, staffing, budgets, fiscal management, and process improvement. • Leads the Attendance Management team in the administration and implementation of local, State, Federal, and University leave benefits. • Plan, assign and review work of staff to ensure that Hospital objectives are met. Hire, train, develop and manage staff to ensure that a qualified staff exists to meet HR and UI Health objectives. • Collaborates with the Director of Employee Relations, Office of Legal Counsel, OAE, UHS, and the Workers • Compensation partners as needed to provide administrative expertise and employee assessments based on an identified need in compliance with local, state, and federal mandates. • Serve as liaison to senior leadership, System Office, Office of Legal Counsel, OAE, and UIC Campus for Attendance Management compliance and communications. • Provides and analyzes quarterly (or as needed) attendance management reporting and data analytics. • Conducts routine audits of leave of absence files, proof status, leave payroll coding, and vaccination status in partnership with the employee relations designees • Monitors, flags and escalate potential attendance management matters as appropriate to Hospital Employee Relations, University Health Services (UHS), Office of Access and Equity (OAE) and Legal counsel as appropriate. • Partners with the attendance management team to identify unit needs and conduct clini

 

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree required.

Graduation from accredited RN program required.

Current license as a Professional Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois required.

Effective communication skills (oral and written) that facilitate  relationships between  with employees and hospital leadership and the multi-disciplinary team.
 

 

Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in nursing or related field perferred.
