Assistant/Associate Professor, Health Sciences

The Butler University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor (non-tenure track, 10-month appointment) in the Department of Health Sciences. We are in search of an individual with a doctoral degree in a health-related field to teach undergraduate courses in the areas of Healthcare Ethics, Healthcare Systems, Healthcare Policy, Business of Healthcare, and Public Health. Responsibilities will include classroom instruction, course management, student academic advising and mentoring, program and college committee service, and scholarly efforts.

In Butler’s College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences we recognize that healthcare is much more than simply treating diseases. And, as such, we teach students to think bigger. Through hands-on learning in the classroom, collaborative research with faculty, and clinical experiences with some of the nation’s largest healthcare organizations, we equip students with the knowledge, and skills, to improve health outcomes.

Applicants should possess the following qualifications:

• Doctorate in a health-related field, with a conferral date no later than the start of the position
• Prior teaching experience coupled with a desire to use innovative teaching methods to engage and educate undergraduate students
• A demonstrated commitment to building an inclusive learning environment for an increasingly diverse student population
• Expertise in areas of health that align with the teaching expectations for this position as outlined above

• Demonstrated commitment to mentoring and advising undergraduate students

• Experience in scholarly pursuits

Faculty responsibilities:

• Teaching load of 3 (sections of) courses per semester/ 6 per academic year
  • Additional information about our undergraduate programs may be found at Health Sciences | Butler University.
• Academic advising for approximately 30 undergraduate BSHS students
• Service (departmental, college, university), as appropriate, for a 10-month faculty member
• Scholarship activities, as appropriate, with a non-tenure line
