Anticipated 9-12 Health Science Teacher

 

DESCRIPTION:


The Everett Public Schools is seeking a passionate, dedicated, and motivated educator to teach health science and skills-based health education in grades 9-12.


REQUIREMENTS:


- Bachelor’s Degree in Health Education or equivalent
- Massachusetts DESE K-12 Health/Family and Consumer Science License
- Experience working in a clinical health care setting
- Knowledge of standards-based instruction
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, families, colleagues, and administrators
- Demonstrate a commitment to excellence, equity, and high expectations for all students with an emphasis on building strengths that students bring to the teaching/learning process
- Demonstrate energy and enthusiasm for health education and teaching
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
- Strong collaboration skills
- Ability to collect, interpret, and utilize data in order to improve instruction and learning


PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:


- Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Massachusetts
- SEI Endorsement
- Experience working in an urban public school setting
- Language proficiency in Spanish, Portuguese, Haitian Creole, or French


RESPONSIBILITIES:


- Lead Health Science Pathway (HSP) classes, and other Health Department classes, utilizing curricula approved by the school district
- Instruct HSP students in hands-on, clinical health care skills
- Create and implement lessons, providing differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all students, while following the state and national health standards
- Support the EHS Health Science Pathway and Innovation Pathway implementation through collaboration with colleagues
- Utilize inclusive practices and SEI strategies for English Learners
- Build and maintain a strong classroom culture centered on student support and achievement
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and community members to ensure the success of students
- Monitor student progress through data analysis
- Promote health initiatives within the school and community
- Provide a clean, safe and nurturing classroom environment
- Follow policies and procedures as set forth by the EPS administration and collective bargaining committee

 

Salary:


Salary for this position will be in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Everett School Committee and the Everett Teachers Association.
