LOCATION:       Adult Education

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be a registered nurse licensed in Arkansas.
  • Possesses a current state-recognized teaching certificate, is licensed as a teaching professional, or has a minimum of three years of full-time teaching experience in a healthcare or health science field.
  • Is currently licensed, certified or registered as healthcare professional or has a minimum of two years of work experience in the allied health field covered by the NHA certification exam or a discipline that is commensurate with or exceeds the scope of practice of that allied health field.
  • Ability to manage and train Patient Care Tech students onsite and through clinicals.
  • Ability to train Phlebotomy & EKG Students onsite and through clinicals.
  • Ability to train Patient Care Assistants onsite.
  • Ability to lift at least 20 lbs.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • Arkansas Nursing Registry
  • Must have updated immunization and TB skin test records
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Skilled in teaching adult learners
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule to meet educational requirements
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.

 

REPORTS TO: Adult Education Administrator and WAGE Coordinator.

JOB GOAL:  The Adult Education Health Services Instructor will develop and oversee PCSSD Adult Education Health Sciences coursework and schedule for the Patient Care Tech and Phlebotomy Students. The instructor will assist students in registering for the NHA licensure exam. The Instructor must possess the ability to work with students from different socioeconomic, ethnic, racial and educational backgrounds.



PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Assist the Adult Education Director, WAGE Coordinator and IET/WAGE Instructor in developing and implementing Health Sciences programs of study.
  2. Advise the Adult Education Director, WAGE Coordinator and IET/WAGE Instructor in matters of Health Sciences programs of study.
  3. Serve as a liaison between the Adult Education program and local healthcare providers and associated community partners, including creating and maintaining relationships with hospitals and clinical sites for student referrals.
  4. Ability to teach Phlebotomy and EKG skills.
  5. Teach other instructional educational training programs developed for adults, including CPR, Phlebotomy, and/or ECG certifications
  6. Maintain confidentiality and accuracy for all records on all students, including (but not limited to: attendance records, schedules and course requirements regarding hours of instruction and content.
  7. Evaluate and document students’ progress through testing, observation, and assessment of skills attained
  8. Communicate effectively with students, and all those affiliated with the course, including staff at clinical training facilities, PCSSD staff, and prospective employers.
  9. Provide a stimulating environment that encourages student participation, interpersonal skills development, and concepts of good patient care.
  10. Work collegially with SNAP, TANF, WIOA, academic personnel, and other community partners.
  11. Perform all other duties as assigned by the Adult Education Director and WAGE Coordinator.
  12. Follow the policies and procedures of the Pulaski County Special School District.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

 

Salary Range:                 $36.00 per hour

Length of Contract:        As needed, up to 40 hours per week

FLSA Status:                   Non-exempt

Personnel Status:           Classified

EVALUATION:

 

Performance of this job will be evaluated according to provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
