DESCRIPTION

The Adjunct Professor, Health Information Technology is a part-time, 4.5-month faculty position responsible to the Department Chair, Health Information Technology/Health Administrative Services and Dean, School of Nursing & Health Sciences. Professors provide classroom instruction and college service.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

  • Providing instruction in the classroom, laboratory or clinical setting for Health information technology and other Department of Health Administrative courses that the instructor is credentialed to teach
  • Scheduling, maintaining, coordinating and evaluating didactic and clinical education of health information technology and health administrative students
  • Counseling and advising students regarding career goals, program requirements and job placement
  • Assisting in the evaluation and revision of program policies, curriculum and examinations
  • Serving on College committees, and complying with all policies and regulations which govern and affect the College
  • Performing other duties as assigned by dean, professional and technical programs and instructor/program coordinator and department chair, health information technology and health administrative services

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's of Science degree 
  • Must have AHIMA Credentials—RHIA or RHIT or CCS
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding and reimbursement methodologies
Preferred Education/Experience 
  • Master's of Science degree
  • Teaching experience
  • Teaching experience in a CAHEA approval health information technology program
