Salary:
 $920 per Instructional Unit
 Up to 10 IU's/Quarter 


Yakima Valley College seeks innovative adjunct Nursing Instructors who will support clinical education courses, and who are committed to community college students and their success
This position is part-time, non-tenure track.
 
Reporting to the Director of Nursing within the Workforce Education Division, the adjunct Nursing Instructor will be accomplished and active in their discipline, committed to participating in an interdisciplinary learning environment, and skilled in the technology of learning and research. Clinical instructors are located at a variety of clinical locations throughout the Yakima Valley as assigned. Typical clinical days with students are between 8-12 hours/clinical session depending on the assigned course.

  • Willingness to continually upgrade knowledge and skills to maintain relevant curriculum.
  • Ability to work effectively with supervisors, colleagues, staff, and students as part of an education team.
  • Enthusiasm for using and learning new technologies.
  • An educational philosophy appropriate to the community college system and the needs of diverse populations.
  • Willingness to work varied schedules including, online, in-person, evening or weekends.
  • Willingness to travel to multiple campus locations including Yakima and Grandview.
JOB PROFILE:
  • Prepare and teach courses as assigned within the Nursing program.
  • Collaborate on clinical curriculum updates as required by the institution to meet industry needs.
  • Follow college policy, process and procedure to maintain compliance with national accrediting agencies and state and federal requirements.
  • Must maintain eligibility for vocational certification in the State of Washington WAC 131-16-092 - 095.

 

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree* in nursing, or approval by the Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission confirming ability to complete master's degree in nursing on a defined timeline.
  • OR A bachelor's degree* in nursing and a master’s degree in a health or education related field.
  • At least 3 years nursing practice experience and current clinical nursing practice
  • Eligibility for vocational certification in the State of Washington.
  • Active, unencumbered Washington state registered nurse license.
  • Valid Washington state driver's license.
*Degrees must be from an accredited college or university and from a nursing education program that is accredited by a nursing education accreditation body recognized by the United States Department of Education.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Doctorate degree* in nursing. 
  • Acute care experience preferred.
  • Experience teaching nurses or nursing students including teaching adults.
  • Experience teaching at a community or technical college.
  • Experience developing curriculum to meet industry standards.
  • Experience with diverse clients, including Latine and Native American populations.
