Job Summary: 
Pathways to Independence is seeking two (2) Full Time Temporary (up to 12 months) Clinical Consultants who will work on behalf of the clinical team with the client services management and the direct support team. The Clinical Consultant guides supported individuals towards healthier behaviours and improved well-being through evidence-based, positive behaviour management strategies. The consultant delivers orientation, education, training, and development to all staff and provides direct oversight for the implementation and ongoing management of behaviour strategies, plans and protocols. The Clinical Consultant serves as a key advisor to management on behaviour strategies, issues and/or concerns and provides performance feedback on direct support employees. 

The successful incumbent will be responsible for: 

  • providing behavioural management support, guidance and training 
  • preparing detailed assessments and case histories using a variety of tools 
  • liaising with the clinical services team and third-party clinicians 
  • providing written staff performance assessments to management 
  • providing complete documentation and court reports 
  • liaising with community agencies and partners 
  • providing education, training, mentoring and orientation to employees, supported individuals and managers. 

Experience and education: 

  • Undergraduate Degree in Health, Forensic or Social Sciences and/or Behaviour Science Technician Diploma 
  • In depth theoretical and practical knowledge of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), including the ability to define and measure behaviour, develop behaviour strategies and positive behaviour support plans, evaluate and document behaviour plans. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge and 3-5 years of experience working with adults with acquired brain injures and/or developmental disabilities who may also have complex needs. 
  • Knowledge of community-based resources and supports. 
  • Knowledge and experience in crisis prevention; medications and their impact on behaviour 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated computer literacy, including the ability to communicate effectively with professionals, family members and lay persons. 

Other: 

  • Valid G Driver’s license and access to a vehicle.  
  • Regular attendance is a requirement of this position 
  • May work with supported individuals with aggressive behaviours
