Healthcare Aide Teacher
Full-time 100% Permanent Position
Reporting to the Principal, this instructor is required to facilitate clinical practice to students in the Healthcare Aide Program.
Specific duties shall be:
- Instruct students in the classroom and laboratory
- Plan and deliver course specific content
- Conduct student assessments and counselling
- Do clinical/practicum site visits as required
- Organize, monitor student performance during clinicals/practicums
- Maintain discipline in the classroom, laboratory and clinical/practicum sites as required
- Communicate with health care facilities regarding school/facility expectations
- Communicate with students with respect to academic progress and encourage them in obtaining appropriate supports
- Facilitate and maintain a creative and positive learning environment, which provides opportunity for meaningful learning and engagement
- Prepare and organize course materials and learning resources for course delivery
- Prepare and maintain all course-related records including evaluation and attendance record
- Participate on school committees and assist in school activities such as student graduation and orientation
- Perform administrative functions as required
- Keep current with trends in the health care sector and provide expertise to students to facilitate quality programming and an evidence-informed curriculum
- Organize all certification workshops as required by the WRHA
- Have HSP Net training for acute facility practicum requests
The candidate should have the following qualifications:
- Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Manitoba or eligible for registration as an RN in Manitoba;
- Bachelor of Nursing Degree.A Diploma in Nursing and significant clinical experience may be considered;
- Several years recent clinical practice experience working in one or more of the following areas; Medicine; Surgery; Pediatrics; Obstetrics; Community; Gerontology; Mental Health; Palliative Care;
- Manitoba Vocational-Industrial Certificate required; those enrolled in the Vocational Teacher’s Training Program at Red River College may be considered.
