The teacher must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be well trained in content knowledge and teaching strategies.
The job of a Secondary CTE Teacher is to facilitate student success in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of students while providing a safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
SKILLS are required to perform single, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: controlling and motivating students; maintaining accurate records; using pertinent software applications; adhering to safety practices; operating standard office equipment.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform algebra and/or geometry; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job includes: knowledge of subject matter; knowledge of state and federal laws that govern school districts, age appropriate activities, stages of child development, and safety practices and procedures.
ABILITY is required to schedule activities and/or meetings; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work independently or with others in a wide variety of circumstances; to work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and to operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is also required to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; to work with similar types of data; and to utilize specific, job-related equipment. Independent problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires analysis based on organizational objectives; and problem solving with equipment is moderate to significant. Specific abilities required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: must be trained in advanced placement art; fostering positive relationships; communicating with diverse groups; maintaining confidentiality; meeting deadlines and schedules; working as part of a team; and working with frequent interruptions.
Responsibility
Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or methods; to use sound judgement when working with students, directing other persons within a small work unit; and operating within a defined budget. Utilization of some resources from other work units may be required to perform the job’s functions. There is a continual opportunity to significantly impact the organization’s services.
Working Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: Generally the job requires 10% sitting, 50% walking, and 40% standing. The job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
